California State Fair in Sacramento Aug15 – Sept 1st
August 18th, 2008 categories: Folsom Lake
It’s that time of year again and I’m looking forward to cotton candy and funnel cakes at the California State Fair. When we typically go to the fair we usually have a budget but since this is a “staycation” I’m allotting more cash for fun.
This year, the Fair’s featured attractions will center on “Superstars and Superheroes.” The main exhibit in Expo Center will showcase the evolution of superheroes, from their comic book origins to their modern incarnation as movie and TV icons. Sacramento based Stage Nine Entertainment company will be overseeing the exhibit and will showcase celebrity autograph signings, authentic replicas and paraphernalia from movie sets, artist storyboards and even regular stunt shows. Costumed characters will make appearances every day, pose for photos with guests and participate in the nightly fair parade.
After reading about this year’s state fair theme I started thinking about an old acquaintance of mine who gets paid to make superheroes sound like superheroes. Matter of fact Ben Burtt will most likely be up for another award for his new project Wall E Just watching the trailer makes me anticipate this new movie just like a kid. Matter of fact I wanted to make sure you remember that on Tuesdays (Aug.19 & 26) Kids enter FREE at the fair. So look no further for something fun to do this next week and don’t forget to wear your favorite superhero T-shirt or better yet pick one up at the fair.
