Campsite Registration Opens at Folsom Lake

tent.jpgIt’s time to book your cabins at your favorite camping site! Aug.1st opens up the new season to book reservations for all the state and federal campgrounds and if I’m on my game I can usually snag a great site early on. There are so many beautiful places to see in California but I’ll share one tip…location, location, location! Don’t make the mistake of getting too close to the facilities or selecting a site next to the RV people (loud TV’s).

Even our local Folsom Lake has some great camping to be had at Beale Point or up the Sacramento or American rivers. Georgetown has some great camping as does Auburn and Sly Park just north of Placerville.

So get on that phone tomorrow and make a decision to see the great outdoors at a price you can afford and spend some time with the people you love discovering God’s green earth!

Another thing to review is your camping gear. I was at the Home Depot a couple of weeks ago and they were clearing out their summer equipment. A friend picked up one of those outdoor 10ft shade structures for $40.00 and I’ve seen other deals around town like chairs and coolers at Longs on Bidwell. The coolest camping gadget I found for my son was a rotating hotdog or marshmallow roasting skewer at REI. It was under $10 but the coolest stocking stuffer and you could rotate the entire length via a small wheel at the handle.

This year the fire season started early so keep in mind that you might want to check with the forest service to see if there was a recent fire where you want to go camping. I do have a morbid curiosity seeing the charred remains of a forest fire but don’t really want to camp there. Finally don’t forget
