Folsom Library Opens Feb. 24, 2007
September 5th, 2008 categories: Folsom Lake
The new library will be dedicated on this Sat. Feb. 24, 2008 with festivities to start at 9:30am.
There was a lot of controversy about building it in city park (now Lions Park but that’s another story) but the planning commission approved it and we now have the Georgia Murray Building better known as Folsom’s new public library.
The building in huge at 24,000sqft and has the latest, greatest in technology to serve the savvy Folsomite geeks as well as the traditional patrons. There will be a plaque honoring Marshall Farley, the only Folsom causality during the Vietnam War, unveiled during the ceremony.
I’m hoping to preview the library before going off to my open house in Newcastle but think I’m a bit optimistic considering there are over 63,000 residents here in Folsom…maybe they’ll sleep in.
